📸 A sad start to 2025 for timelapse motion control enthusiasts 📸

Hello and happy New Year to you and yours ✨

I hope 2025 is bigger and better than 2024.

Let's get cracking with some sad timelapse industry news below 🫠

Industry News

It's been a sad couple of years for timelapse motion control enthusiasts.

Two years ago Dynamic Perception ceased operations (that's what it looks like at least, despite their website still being online). They were an early player in the timelapse slider game and were often seen in behind-the-scenes photographs of some of the most popular timelapse shooters out there.

Shortly after, New Zealand based company Syrp was bought out by Videndum (the mega corporation behind Manfrotto). After making a few small content creator-focused products like the Joby Spin and Swing, Videndum ended up shutting down all Syrp operations.

Then, last week, Rhino Camera Gear announced its closure on its website. Without much further official info, there are quite a few comments from the company owner Kyle under this article here.

This leaves few "old school" timelapse moco players behind: Kessler Crane, Emotimo, Edelkrone, and Black Forest Motion. (If I missed any let me know)

There are new ones popping up to replace the shuttered ones: Zeapon keeps adding smart sliders to the affordable market (I have yet to test their equipment), and Neewer has some plug-and-play equipment too.

For now, I am still holding on to my Syrp 3-axis motion control kit using the carbon fiber magic carpet and the Genie Pan and Tilt head.

Summer arrived, and I got crazy busy with work and events! This is why I haven't sent you an email since June 🤯 The latest project I did was quite a lot of work, which is why I'm so happy with the end result. The Tron: Ares launch event in London last week just ticked over 350,000 plays. I worked with a VFX artist, a second shooter and two editors to turn a two hour shoot into something quite special! Watch the launch video here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DPTZlc4CLhI/ My second shooter Sam...

For about 200,000 people in the UK, this week is an absolute highlight of the year. Glastonbury 2025 is about to kick off, one of the world's largest music and arts festivals. This BBC documentary about the build of Arcadia, one of my favourite stages, is a great insight (featuring some great hyperlapse footage) into what it means to craft one of many experiences in the fields. I look forward to capturing some fun hyperlapse clips on my 360 camera this year :) Industry News When I started...
